A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Dougga is considered the best-preserved Roman city in North Africa. Across some 70 hectares you wander between the 3,500-seat theatre, the Capitol with its intact columns, the Square of the Winds, the baths and the Libyco-Punic mausoleum. The site overlooks the hills of the Tell, covered in wheat fields and olive trees.
In the afternoon, Bulla Regia surprises with its unique architecture: to escape the heat, its wealthy residents built their villas underground. The mosaics remain in place, notably in the House of Amphitrite and the House of the Hunt.
This is our longest excursion from Hammamet, ideal for archaeology enthusiasts who want to see major sites with hardly any crowds, in the comfort of a private vehicle.
